Introduction to Select Members Options

Settings in the Select Members Options window are used by security administrators to control the member search and selection window behavior for a level.

Select Members Options settings also control which display columns (values or attribute relationships) will display by default when the Select Members, Advanced Select Members, Paste Members, and Select User List Filter (its Show Details section) windows are accessed from outside a view. For example, when the Select Members window is accessed from the User List Maintenance window or when any of the selection windows are accessed from the Role Maintenance window. A Search By setting controls what searches default to in the Select and Advanced Select Members windows no matter where you access them from – be it from views, the User List Maintenance window, the Role Maintenance window, and so forth.

Note: When the selection windows are accessed from within views, the display columns default to the values and/or attribute relationships showing in the grid. In the case of views with parameters where the windows are accessed from the View Prompt window, display column settings will be influenced by the parameter’s Display Text property.

Example

Here is the UPC Global Number level in a view. The user clicks the filter icon next to the filtered level to access a filtering window.

Since a member list filter was previously applied, the Advanced Select Members window opens. The window was accessed from a view, so the display columns in the selection window are the same as what is displayed for UPC Global Number in the view. In this case, the value of UPC Global Number, the UPC Long Description, and the UPC ABC Classification.

There isn't an option for accessing the Select Members window from the More button because the security administrator selected Advanced Only for UPC Global Number in the Select Members Options window.

If the type of filter that had been applied was a user list filter, the Select User List Filter window would have opened. When viewing the details of a list in the selection window, the display columns for the level would be what showed for the level in the view. In this case, the value of UPC Global Number, the UPC Long Description, and the UPC ABC Classification.
