The following steps outline how to change the standard Stratum logo that appears on the left side of the top panel in Stratum.Viewer to one of the alternate Stratum logos described in the topic Alternate Stratum Logos For Top Panel. Alternative logos are typically used to distinguish an environment as a special use instance such as one used for QA, testing, development, or InfoCenter. First, some things to remember:
A Viewer administrator should handle these changes. The administrator must have an ID that has authority to sign on to the server where the Viewer application resides and has authority to copy, delete, and rename objects in the Viewer application folders.
All Viewer environments default to a standard Stratum logo when initially installed. Environments revert to the standard Stratum logo after any upgrades. If you were using an alternate logo prior to the upgrade, your administrator must follow the steps below to reimplement the alternate logo after an upgrade.
1. Navigate to the server for the instance of Viewer where you need to change the logo.
2. For that instance of Viewer, navigate to its /Images subfolder in its main folder where application files reside. All available alternate Stratum logos and the standard logo actively in use are in that /Images folder
3. In the /Images folder, locate the file “StratumLogoTopPanelVVxxx.png”. The “xxx” will be three numbers representing the version of Viewer. That file will be what’s currently used in the instance of Viewer that you are changing. Its name is used to implement an alternate logo. Make note of the file name.
a. In the following example, the active file and its location are C:\Program Files\Silvon Software\Stratum.Viewer\Images\StratumLogoTopPanelVV730.png.
b. The last 3 characters in the file name (after the VV) are the Viewer Version number. That corresponds to the Viewer Application property in Viewer’s About Stratum window. In this example, the version is “730”.
4. Create a copy of the alternate Stratum logo that you want to use. This copied file will be renamed at a later step. In this example, a Copy then Paste was done to create a copy of StratumLogoTopPanelInfoCenter.png.
5. Delete the file that you located during Step 2 – the file named StratumLogoTopPanelVVxxx.png.
6. Rename the copy of the alternate logo that you created in Step 4 using the name that you made note of during Step 2.
a. The format of the file name will be StratumLogoTopPanelVVxxx.png where xxx represents the Version number for Viewer.
b. In this example, the file “StratumLogoTopPanelInfoCenter – Copy.png” was renamed to “StratumLogoTopPanelVV730.png.”
7. If the alternate logo you just implemented does not appear the next time you log into the instance of Viewer you just changed, try clearing your browser cache. Steps for clearing the browser cache will vary depending on your device and browser type.
Example steps for clearing the cache in Chrome:
a. Click the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon in the upper right corner of the browser.
b. Select More Tools then “Clear browsing data…” from the menus that display.
c. In the window that displays, choose a time range for clearing data. To delete from all past time to the current date, select All time. Also determine the type of data to delete. At a minimum, select “Cached images and files”. Then, click Clear Data. A confirmation displays in the browser once data clearing has completed.
Example steps for clearing the cache in Internet Explorer:
a. Click the Tools icon in the upper right corner of the browser.
b. Select Safety and then “Delete browsing history…” from the menus that display.
c. In the window that displays, determine the type of data to delete. At a minimum, select “Temporary Internet files and website files”. Then, click Delete. A confirmation displays in the browser once data clearing has completed.
